About the role
In this critical role, influential and leadership skills and passion for biodiversity will be a real asset. You will be responsible for:
Implementing the biodiversity strategy through delivering revegetation and restoration plans
Ensuring our gardens, tracks and coastal areas are considered with a biodiversity lens
Leading the team to execute the day-to-day operations of the revegetation programme.
Creating a volunteer base within the community, business and friend groups
Introducing an education programme on urban ecology and biodiversity
Coordinating planting activities and managing resources and logistics
Ensuring compliance with health & safety standards and environmental regulations
About you
You'll have a strong background in leadership, biodiversity management and practice and have a passion for improving Porirua City's environment. You'll need to show us that you:
Have a qualification in ecology, environmental restoration or similar experience
Have strong people leadership skills and experience
Can demonstrate knowledge in ecological restoration and/or biodiversity management
Have great project management skills including planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring and reporting
Will build effective and enduring positive relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners including iwi, community groups and contractors
Will inspire, motivate and influence your team
Have a full unrestricted driver licence
Can meet the physical requirements of the role
