About the role In this critical role, influential and leadership skills and passion for biodiversity will be a real asset. You will be responsible for:
Implementing the biodiversity strategy through delivering revegetation and restoration plansEnsuring our gardens, tracks, and coastal areas are considered with a biodiversity lensLeading the team to execute the day-to-day operations of the revegetation programmeCreating a volunteer base within the community, business, and friend groupsIntroducing an education programme on urban ecology and biodiversityCoordinating planting activities and managing resources and logisticsEnsuring compliance with health & safety standards and environmental regulationsAbout you You'll have a strong background in leadership, biodiversity management, and practice and have a passion for improving Porirua City's environment. You'll need to show us that you:
Have a qualification in ecology, environmental restoration, or similar experienceHave strong people leadership skills and experienceCan demonstrate knowledge in ecological restoration, and/or biodiversity managementHave great project management skills including planning, implementation, budgeting, monitoring, and reportingWill build effective and enduring positive relationships with a range of stakeholders and partners including iwi, community groups, and contractorsWill inspire, motivate, and influence your teamHave a full unrestricted driver licenceCan meet the physical requirements of the roleWhat you need to do now Come and join our high-performing and diverse Parks Team and be part of our welcoming and engaging environment.
