During this period, you will lead these reviews while managing the Property Division within the Infrastructure Group. Your responsibilities will include overseeing evaluations, developing recommendations, and implementing operational improvements to optimise Council's property assets. Working closely with stakeholders, you'll ensure alignment with community needs and strategic goals while contributing to significant projects that shape the future of the Council's property assets.
This role also involves managing a skilled team and fostering a positive, high-performance work environment.
This fixed-term role is full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Your focus in this role will include:
Leading the strategic review of social housing and property, aligning outcomes with community and Council goals.Evaluating and optimising Council's property portfolio to enhance efficiency and impact.Reviewing and improving the structure and operations of the Property Division.Providing leadership to a team of 28 staff, promoting professional growth and cohesion.Managing budgets, risks, and resources to meet Council objectives effectively.Representing the Property Division in discussions with elected members, committees, and external stakeholders.About you You're a strategic leader with extensive experience in property management, project oversight, and team leadership. Known for your ability to navigate complex projects and foster collaboration, you have the skills and expertise to drive high-value outcomes for the community.
To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:
A bachelor's degree or higher in Property Management, Construction, Project Management, or a related field.10+ years of senior management experience, including leading multidisciplinary teams.Extensive project management expertise, particularly in asset reviews and strategic planning.A strong understanding of property law, legislation, and procurement best practices.Exceptional leadership, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.Strong communication abilities to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.Proficiency in risk management and financial oversight.About us Palmerston North (or as we like to call it, Palmy) is a growing, innovative and exciting city.
