The Privacy Commissioner is Aotearoa New Zealand's privacy regulator. We are an independent crown entity, working to protect and promote individual privacy. Mo te turanga | About the role
Provide thought leadership and high-level policy expertise to advise the Commissioner on policy matters relating to the privacy of the individual.
Lead, inspire and develop the capability of the Policy team.
Drive the formulation and delivery of new initiatives and projects proactively instigated by the Commissioner, and in response to initiatives instigated elsewhere.
Provide sound, solutions-based advice on the privacy implications of draft and existing legislation, proposed or current government policy, non-government proposals, and business, technological or other developments.
Foster productive and effective external stakeholder relationships and networks that may be relevant to the role, promoting the wider interests of the Commissioner's office.
As a member of the wider leadership team, contribute to the development and implementation of our strategic and operational objectives.
Minimum Requirements
5+ years' relevant experience working in public policy to at least senior adviser level or equivalent.
A keen interest in the interactions between privacy, technology and people.
Knowledge and experience, or willingness to learn about Te Tiriti, Tikanga, Te Reo and Te Ao Maori.
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple internal and external stakeholders, manage inter-dependencies, and develop constructive relationships.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to prioritise and perform under pressure.
Ability to manage, mentor and develop others in a professional setting.
