About the roleWe are looking for a Manager Planning to lead our planning team. Leading by example, this hands-on role will see the successful candidate undertake:Leading, managing and developing a team of planning professionals.Involvement in the District Plan review/roll out of the Proposed District Plan.Growth/Strategic planning.Project management on resource consents for new developments.Influencing systems/organisation improvement work and helping lead district response to government policies and national directions.Staying up to date with changes in planning legislation and best practices.Our ideal candidate will have the following:Degree or higher qualification in Resource Management / Planning or a closely allied field and preferably membership of the NZ Planning Institute.Recent experience in resource consents, District Plan Policy and strategic planning processes.A sound working knowledge of the Resource Management Act and its practical implementation.Proven track record of successfully managing and leading a team of planning professionals.Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams and stakeholders.Current clean full driver's licence.What we offerAt South Wairarapa District Council, we are committed to providing a supportive and inclusive work environment that fosters professional growth and development.
