Reporting to the Head of Strategy and Consenting, this is a hands-on role leading a team of motivated and passionate planning, engineering, and commercial professionals, responsible for leading and integrating large scale and/or complex developments into Watercare's infrastructure planning and delivery while ensuring alignment with both Auckland Councils and Watercare's development strategies and policies.
The main focus of this role is early engagement with major developers and developers of complex developments, to ensure that Watercare's position on Private Plan changes and servicing of development with essential Water and Wastewater is aligned with Watercare and Council policies and strategies.
The role also provides support and leadership for our project-specific interface across the business with other network utility providers such as CCOs.
You will be establishing and managing multiple agreements and arrangements to implement water and wastewater servicing solutions for new developments, supporting growth across Auckland and maintaining key relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including the development community.
To be effective in this role your background will include: A relevant tertiary qualification with extensive experience in a related field within the utilities sector Experience in interactions with the commercial, industrial, and housing development communities Evidence of strong people leadership skills Excellent report writing, presentation, and briefing skills along with strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills Preferably you will have knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure and the Resource Management Act and other relevant legislation as it relates to development You are likely to have experience negotiating funding agreements and preferably have worked with Council teams that support development and consenting You have strong knowledge of policy and asset planning and engineering and well-developed facilitation, problem-solving, and influencing skills Strong ability to deliver successful commercial outcomes within complex relationship frameworks Ability to comprehend, analyse, and interpret data.
