About the roleIntelligence is an indispensable enabler for NZ Police that touches on every part of what we do. Annually, Police Intelligence produces approximately 50,000 products. Some are short and tactically focused, supporting day-to-day decisions, while others are more in-depth with a longer-term focus aiding the development of long-term operational plans and organisational strategy.

The Intelligence Operations Manager plays a leadership role across NZ Police Intelligence, responsible for leading national intelligence service delivery to planned and unplanned major events.
Key Accountabilities:Lead the National Intelligence Operations function.Refine and update NIC Intelligence Operations work and Intelligence Support to Major Events (ISME) processes.Train and develop Intelligence Supervisors and Analysts.Maintain high standards of analytical tradecraft.Identify and operationalise innovation opportunities within the Intelligence Operations function.Create and maintain functional relationships with organisational and external management counterparts.When required, deputise for the Manager Analytics and Intelligence Operations.What you'll bringIntelligence experience and expertise.An ability to lead high-performing teams with a values-based culture.Great interpersonal and communication skills.A demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective partnerships for mutual benefit and shared outcomes.An ability to work in a dynamic environment and manage competing demands to deliver organisational priorities.Special requirementsTo be eligible for the Police National Headquarters based roles, you must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET national security clearance.
The minimum criteria for this level of national security clearance is:
NZ Citizen who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, or:A Permanent Resident who has resided continuously in NZ for the last 10 years, orA citizen of or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, or United States of America, and has a background that can be verified by the NZSIS.You may be required to work outside of set work hours and alternative locations for operational reasons.
This role is based at Police National Headquarters.
