Access Radio Taranaki Trust
Background
Access Radio Taranaki, part of the vibrant network of community access radio stations across Aotearoa New Zealand, plays a crucial role in bringing section 36c of the Broadcasting Act 1989 to life. Our commitment is to provide diverse broadcasts that cater to the interests of women, youth, children, persons with disabilities, ethnic and other minorities. We believe in the power of participatory broadcasting democracy, empowering citizens to create their own radio content.
As our station undergoes a period of change, we are seeking passionate and skilled candidates for either the Station Manager or Programme Manager role. We encourage prospective applicants for both positions and will identify the best fit for one of these essential roles.
Station Manager Role
The Station Manager reports to the Access Radio Taranaki Trust Board.
The Station Manager will oversee and manage all aspects of Access Radio Taranaki. This full-time position is ideal for applicants who possess the following attributes:
Strong capability in managing people, budgets, resources, and work programmes.
Excellent relationship-building skills with the community of Taranaki.
Competence in planning and organizing time and organizational resources effectively.
Confident public representation of Access Radio Taranaki.
Knowledge of issues affecting the local community.
Experience in community development and radio operations is preferable but not essential.
Programme Manager Role
The Programme Manager reports to the Station Manager.
The Programme Manager will handle the day-to-day production and programming needs, ensuring effective community access broadcasting. This full-time role is ideal for those with a passion for the technical aspects of broadcasting. Key responsibilities include:
Collaborating with show makers to record and develop radio shows for broadcast.
Providing recording support and preparing programming for on-demand listening across multiple platforms.
Ensuring quality control of broadcast content.
Additional responsibilities include:
Training new and existing broadcasters in broadcasting, recording, and show-saving systems.
Updating and maintaining the Access Radio Taranaki website.
Maintaining an Equipment Log and developing a maintenance plan for equipment.
Monitoring on-demand listening statistics.
Ideal candidates must be:
Skilled in building relationships and fostering collaboration.
Capable of planning and organizing effectively.
Logical thinkers who can troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
