Details of the offer

Description
Type: Fixed-term (18 months)
Hours: Full time
Location: Wellington
Business Group: Regulatory Services
Branch: Regulation and Policy
Salary: $117,189 - $157,094
We are looking for an experienced leader to take on the role of Manager Engagement.
This is an exciting 18 month fixed-term opportunity where you'll get to work within a multi-disciplinary environment to build a new online gambling regulatory system.
The Manager Engagement will be responsible for ensuring that stakeholders (including international stakeholders) are aware of the regime and familiar with the requirements of the proposed new regulatory system including the processes to engage with the auction pre-qualifying process, the auction itself and the subsequent issue of licences – as well as expectations of the regulator once the system is operating. This will involve engagement with other stakeholders involved in the regulatory system and educating the general public.
This is a new regulatory initiative for New Zealand. Overseas gambling is regulated in many overseas jurisdictions, and it is expected that New Zealand will look to relevant overseas counterparts in planning for its introduction here.
The Manager Engagement will report to the Programme Director, Online Gambling Implementation as line manager but will be expected to work in partnership with other workstream leads in the implementation group as well as policy, legal and communication teams. They will also have a relationship with senior leaders in the wider Regulatory Services group and the governance oversight body for the implementation programme.
They will have 6-8 reports. The timeframes to get the regulatory regime up and running are tight, so the Manager will be supported to build their team at pace. The structure of the Engagement and Communication team is currently being finalised and there will be interviews lined up for the Manager to run as soon as they commence in role.
To be successful in this role you will need to have robust experience within a regulatory environment, sound leadership experience and have a proven track record of developing strong engagement plans and providing educative information to regulated parties and the public. You will need to be comfortable working with ambiguity – because we haven't done this before in New Zealand – and be at ease working with senior leaders and governance boards. One of the key attributes that will be required is the ability to work alongside other leaders in a fast-paced environment, solving complex problems through collaboration.
Applications close: 5pm, 9 December 2024.
