We are seeking a highly motivated, creative thinker, with great fundraising, management, and people skills to help guide our Museum towards a sustainable future.Main Purpose of the RoleThe Manager/Business Builder will lead the Museum's efforts to achieve financial sustainability, and unlock the full potential of the Museum and its collections by:Leading the development and implementation of plans and processes that contribute to the Museum's financial sustainabilityBuilding and maintaining relationships with key stakeholdersAssisting the Board to develop and implement the Museum's Strategic and Annual PlansManaging people and projectsKey Areas of ResponsibilityPrepare and submit funding applicationsDevelop and implement marketing strategies for the MuseumDevelop and manage partnerships with key stakeholders in collaboration with the BoardManage and work with staff effectively including setting tasks and objectivesDeepen community participation and pride in the Museum in collaboration with the BoardBuild a constituency of support from patrons, benefactors and funding agenciesOversee collections care and approved collections projectsDevelop an active Friends group to strengthen community commitmentDevelop and implement health and safety plans and systems as required by lawCo-ordinate the Museum's educational programmesCo-ordinate projects and volunteersTo be successful in this role you will be able to demonstrateExperience preparing funding applicationsManagement experience (ideally in the Museum or Tourism sector)Cultural competencyA desire to help build and maintain an enjoyable and highly productive work environmentA high level of organisational skillsAbility to work flexible hours, including evenings, holidays and/or weekends where requiredExcellent interpersonal and time management skills and a strong work ethicThe ability to work independently and with a small team located within a small rural communityA relevant tertiary qualificationEnjoy working in a peaceful, beautiful work environment, which feels remote but is only a twenty-minute drive from Akaroa.Flexible workplace and hours – while Okains Bay Museum is the primary place of work, some aspects of the role may be worked remotely. Fixed Term Contract and Hours of WorkThis is a permanent part-time (24 hours per week) role. The Manager/Business Builder role requires at least one day per week to be worked at the Museum. However, much of the role will also involve work away from Okains Bay, meeting with stakeholders in Christchurch and elsewhere. Accommodation Accommodation may be available at the Museum.
