We are looking for an experienced manager, with proven expertise in leading leaders. The building team is responsible for upholding Building Act legislation and ensuring compliance with the Building Code. This role is responsible for ensuring the effective strategic leadership and development of the building teams, including building control officers, coordinators and compliance officers. Leading a team of approximately 30, with 6 direct reports, this role will implement best practice solutions to improve our services and ensure Council meets its statutory timeframes and legal obligations.
Your responsibilities include (but are not limited to): development of an engaged, empowered and high-performing teamlead engagement with the building and design sectors, ensuring collaborative and productive relationshipsensure the effective financial management of building solutions activitiesensure that processes and procedures are implemented according to best practiceenforce provisions of the Building Act and regulations and ensure the team meets statutory timeframesTo be successful in this role you will: have an appropriate tertiary qualification in business, management or similarproven people leadership and management skills (at the leading leaders level) with a drive to develop and coach others
experience in a local government environment, ideally within a building or regulatory context
excellent communicationskills and proven ability to establish credible and constructive workingrelationships
a continuous improvement focus and enthusiasm for pioneering solutions that improve our customer experience whilst ensuring adherence to regulations
