About the role As the Manager Building Services, you will lead a significant team, overseeing 6 direct reports and a total of 45 staff members. Building Services is a critical function, ensuring compliance with the Building Act and related legislation, and delivering exceptional building services on behalf of the Manawatu District Council. This is a full-time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Your focus in this role will include: Provide leadership to the Building Services team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including other councils and regulatory authorities. Ensure effective service delivery in alignment with service level agreements, business plans, and the Council's strategic objectives. Lead the provision of an effective, informative and efficient customer service function for those utilising these services. About you You will possess exceptional leadership, critical thinking, and relationship management skills, with the ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver high-quality services. To excel in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience: Relevant Bachelor's degree. Exceptional leadership and mentoring abilities, with a focus on team development and performance. Prior experience in the building industry or another regulatory discipline. Strong relationship management skills, capable of building and maintaining productive stakeholder relationships. High-level critical thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions to complex issues. Proven decision-making abilities, with a strategic mindset and sound business planning capabilities.
