The Far North District Council is seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking professional to join our Infrastructure Group.Te Wero - The ChallengeThe primary responsibility of this role is to oversee the strategic Asset Management of the Three Waters infrastructure. This involves collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure the provision of a highly effective Asset Management service. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure, ensuring it meets current and future needs.Key Responsibilities:Develop and implement strategic plans for the management of the Three Waters infrastructure.Work in partnership with the Far North Waters to optimize asset performance and longevity.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.Monitor and report on the condition and performance of assets.Identify and mitigate risks associated with asset management.Lead initiatives to improve asset management practices and outcomes.This position reports directly to the Head of Infrastructure and is based in Kaikohe. The role is pivotal in providing regular updates and insights to support strategic decision-making.We're looking for someone with:A tertiary degree in engineering or planning, or equivalent experience.Strong leadership experience.At least 5 years in asset management.Proficiency in data analytics and asset management systems.Effective leadership and people management skills.Advanced knowledge of capital and operational funding.High proficiency in Microsoft Office and related technology.Knowledge of, or willingness to learn, Te Ao Maori, tikanga, Te Reo Maori, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.Preferred exposure to Prince2 and 'better business case' methodologies.Preferred professional membership with IPENZ or similar organisations.Required knowledge of the Public Works Act and Resource Management Act.Desired knowledge of New Zealand local government legislation, practices, and standards.A current full New Zealand driver's license.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.Commitment to excellence in customer service.Ability to relate to a diverse range of people.Advanced documentation, report writing, and workflow process skills.High-level relationship management and customer facilitation skills.A commitment to achieving the best outcomes for the community.A progressive mindset focused on continuous improvement.The ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships.Far North District Council is proud of our diverse workforce and is committed to maintaining an inclusive workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.
