Your Role
As our Management Accountant, you'll be the financial backbone of our agency, working closely with our Finance Director to ensure precision and efficiency in our financial operations, and alongside our experienced AP/AR Administrator to ensure we are working cohesively and comprehensively as a team. This position would suit an experienced Accountant looking to take the next step, or an existing Management Accountant looking for more ownership and responsibility in their role.
Specific tasks and responsibilities include:
Overseeing month-end processing, assisting where needed to ensure quick turnaround of monthly accounts
Finalising and checking monthly management accounts against budget
Balance sheet reconciliation
Month-end performance reporting using project management system
Management of tax deadlines and returns (GST, PAYE, NRWT)
Monthly job reconciliation and job closures (JCRs)
Being the go-to person for general finance enquiries
Set up & training new staff in Accountability (finance & project management system)
Assist in setting and managing overhead expense budgets
Analysis of financial data, client and job data, and compilation into spreadsheets and visual reports for use to advise management and partners to assist in making business decisions
Ensuring accuracy of financial information, and that all statutory compliances are met
Providing advice and support to our experienced AP/AR Administrator as/when needed. Backup to the wider Finance team as needed
Skills & Experience
To succeed in this role, the ideal candidate will have:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
A minimum of 3-4 years' experience in an Accountant/Senior Accountant position in a SME environment
Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving
Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and leadership
Flexible and adaptable to handle diverse financial tasks and responsibilities effectively
This role is office-based, with the opportunity to work from home one day per week once established in the role. For the right applicant, there is also the potential for the business to support you in your progression towards becoming a Chartered Accountant.
