When you join our City Streets Maintenance Team, you're getting involved first hand and contributing to crafting the Christchurch community. This role is a mix of office and field work which includes auditing completed works, resolving Customer Service Requests, validating and processing contractor claims.

As a Pavement Maintenance Engineer, you are responsible for the facilitation of maintenance to our road assets. Some of the key areas of accountability are:
Ensuring work is being carried out in a cost-effective manner, meeting our levels of service and achieving target deadlines.
Providing expert technical and financial advice to the Pavement Maintenance Team Leader.
Maintaining positive working relationships with Contractors, Council, Waka Kotahi, and other stakeholders.
Managing contract work timetables to assist in achieving wider Council projects with maximum unity.
Responding to customer requests for maintenance work.
You will come from a background of practical experience in road maintenance, construction contracts, contract management, all with an understanding of processing claims. You will have a working knowledge of reading contracts, audit methodologies, quality assurance systems, SAP, RAMM, and financial processing. Above all, you will have proven customer service skills and be able to communicate with the public about different matters. To support this, you will have:
Tertiary qualification in roading/engineering/financial accounting discipline e.g. Graduate Diploma in Engineering (Highways), Degree in Engineering/Accounting/Contract/Project Management or acceptable equivalent.
7 years of practical experience in road maintenance, financial accounting and/or construction contracts.
Experience in a customer-centric role.

Location: This position is primarily based at Te Hononga, Christchurch City Council Civic Offices - 53 Hereford Street
Salary: The salary band for this position goes from $93,200 to $103,556 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
