Mags Premier Boys Rugby League Head Coach

MAGS Premier Boys Rugby League Head Coach Mount Albert Grammar School is looking for a suitable and qualified person to be the head coach of our 1stXIII Rugby League Team in 2025 in a voluntary capacity. The sport has had a strong history at the school where a number of former students have gone on to play in the NRL, UK Super League and for various international teams, including the Kiwis. The 1stXIII regularly competes in the Auckland Secondary Schools Premier League Competition and the New Zealand Secondary Schools Nationals.
Responsibilities will include:
Preparing the team through taking trainings to play in competition fixtures
Selecting the playing squad for the season
Coaching the team throughout the College Sport Season and at the National Tournament
Liaising with the sports department on any team updates
Working within the school and competitions rules and regulations
The suitable person should have the following:
A strong knowledge of rugby league through playing and/or coaching (experience in coaching teenagers is preferable)
An ability to relate to teenagers
An ability to develop a strong team culture relating to the MAGS way
The successful candidate will need to commit to at least 2 or 3 trainings a week, including pre-season and competition games starting in May. The coach should also be available for the Secondary School Nationals being held at the end of August.
