The details: Permanent – 40 hours per week – Monday to Friday

You will be one of a team of three Maaori Clinical Nurse Specialists employed to create radical change for Maaori. This role will be essential in creating partnerships with Maaori across all levels including taangata whai ora and whaanau, Maaori staff and the Kaitakawaenga team, and supporting our non- Maaori staff to work together in reducing inequity.
Te whiwhinga mahi | The Opportunity
We are seeking a suitably qualified Maaori Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) to join our adult acute inpatient team on ward 34 to work in partnership with the Charge Nurse Manager (CNM), Associate Charge Nurse Manager (ACNM) and Kaitakawaenga to provide specialist nursing care and expertise.
Maaori are significantly over represented across our service and you will need to have an understanding of the inequities for Maaori in the system. The Maaori Clinical Nurse Specialist roopu goal is to achieve better outcomes.
Key responsibilities of the role:

Work in partnership with Kaitakawaenga intertwining Te Ao Maaori models of care, to provide the best outcomes for Ma
Support clinical decision making
Lead and promote quality improvements and education
Build relationships with tangata whaiora family/whanau and support agencies.
Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for tangata whaiora

Mou | About you
To be considered for this position, you will need to be able to work in an environment where you may have to have difficult conversations, advocating what is right for Maaori in what is a generally western approach to care.
You must:

Identify as Maaori
Have a good understanding of Te Ao Maaori and your own identity and whakapapa connections.
Hold a current New Zealand nursing registration and practising certificate with scope to work in mental health
Have 4-5 years of clinical experience
Have a passion for making a difference to the lives of our tangata whaiora and whanau
