Job Description / The role -
The Logistics Officer position sits within the New Zealand Contingency and sustainment team and is responsible for effectively supporting husbanding contracts in the division, both domestically and overseas. This may also extend to the supporting of projects for extended periods which include ships and land-based services.
Duties and Responsibilities / a day in the life of the Logistics Officer –
Managing ship visits by liaising with the customer, various suppliers and agents as directed by the Contract Manager.
Supervision of sub-contractors and agents whilst supporting the customer.
Update tracking sheets with relevant information. Support the Contract Manager to maintain supply chain systems, security systems and operating systems.
Maintain agents' details per port / region, and update supplier databases in consultation with Contract Manager.
Utilise strong business judgement and business sense to interpret operational issues and risks and identify solutions to increase the operational efficiency and service delivery percentage.
Identify innovative solutions to underlying problems in methods or systems to improve operational excellence in critical areas.
What You'll Need to Succeed:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Working knowledge of providing ship husbandry services and to other land-based support to ships and camps essential.
Excellent knowledge of MS suites with strong MS Excel skills and skills in Word and PowerPoint. Working experience of SAP.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and customers. Ability to negotiate successful outcomes with suppliers.
Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to adapt and manage with unexpected change and be results orientated and commit to goals being achieved.
Building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders.
Special Conditions -
This role may require work outside of standard business hours and days. Domestic and international travel will be required to successfully perform this role, sometimes for extended periods.
