The National Public Health Service (NPHS) within Health New Zealand Te Whatu Ora, work towards Pae Ora (healthy futures) for all by engaging with the wider determinants that impact people's health, focusing on oranga/wellbeing, prevention, protection, and population-level intervention. We are connected across boundaries to deliver public health services that are nationally planned, regionally delivered and locally tailored.
We have a full-time opportunity available to join the Te Manawa Taki regional team (Waikato/Taupo) as a Local Immunisation and Prevention Lead. This role is critical in enabling the delivery of the NPHS strategic agenda for Pae Ora (Healthy Futures).
Reporting to the local Manager Community and Whanau Wellbeing, and working closely with the Regional Prevention Development and Delivery Lead, the primary purpose of the role is to ensure effective, efficient and equitable prevention programme planning and delivery for communities and whanau. You will ensure that local immunisation programme planning and delivery is aligned to the regional immunisation plan and National priorities. You will also work to support the implementation of screening programmes in the local area. In this role you will operate as the main point of contact between local immunisation stakeholders. This role is a critical enabler to support local prevention programmes, working across Health NZ and with Primary Care (including pharmacy), Hauora Maori and Pacific Services, Midwifery (Hospital and Community based), and NGOs.

You are someone with strong problem solving and analytical skills combined with an ability to quickly assimilate new information, and to write and talk about complex issues clearly and concisely with a range of audiences. You have leadership experience, ideally including design and management of a programme, people and resources and leading through influence.
Nga pukenga me nga wheako | Skills and experience

A relevant clinical qualification (e.g. nursing with a current APC)
Clinical experience and experience in immunisation and/or screening operations, or equivalent
Proven experience in project/programme leadership
New Zealand Driver's License
Understanding of, and commitment to, the specific relationship under te Tiriti o Waitangi, and Te Whatu Ora's role in improving outcomes for iwi and Maori communities
Proven relationship management skills especially in working with Hauora Maori Service, Pacific Services and Primary Care
Experience in advisory roles, applying critical thinking and using sound judgement to develop options and provide advice, as well as strong project coordination skills
An understanding of and ability to select, adapt and use a range of frameworks, principles, tools and methods and draw on experience in different areas of expertise to apply them appropriately to given issues.
