This role focuses on managing incoming loans for gallery renewal, coordinating long-term loans, and facilitating short-term loans for temporary exhibitions.You will work closely with the Loans Officer, negotiating with lenders and borrowers, handling loan logistics, and ensuring thorough documentation and record-keeping. Join us in delivering world-class cultural experiences and contributing to the Museum's ongoing success.Mo te turanga| About the roleThis role is responsible for:Facilitating exhibition loan requests, coordinating approvals, and ensuring timely communication with lenders and borrowersNegotiating and reviewing loan agreements, and arranging the packing, transport, and storage of objects with the Loans Officer and Collection ManagersSupporting Gallery Renewal planning, attending meetings, and updating the team on loan progress and requirementsMaintaining up-to-date loan documentation, both physical and digital, ensuring accurate records and archivingManaging loan-related data in Vernon CMS, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and proper linkage of digital recordsCoordinating safe transit and handling of collections, ensuring cultural sensitivity and adherence to best practicesBuilding and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including iwi/hapu, and participating in cross-disciplinary teamsDesired Skills and ExperienceA relevant degree or relevant museum experience in Collection Management or Registration. A Museum Studies Diploma or Degree (or currently working towards one) is highly desirableKnowledge of the requirements for accurate record keeping, and experience in the use of Vernon Collection Management System highly desirableKnowledge and understanding of the principles of Museum RegistrationA current and full New Zealand driver's licenceDemonstrated effective verbal, written, and listening skillsA mature outlook with a capacity for balancing privacy and access to collections and collection informationA helpful, flexible, respectful, and generous attitude with colleagues and external stakeholdersAttention to detail, demonstrated accountability, and commitment to completionAwareness, sound judgement, sensitivity, and cultural competencyWe may short-list or commence interviews prior to the closing date of the advert.You must be eligible to currently work in New Zealand to be considered for this part-time and permanent position.
