We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Living Kidney Donor Advisor to join our team. In this role, you will provide critical support to potential living kidney donors by educating them on the risks, benefits, and processes involved in kidney donation. You will also assess their ability to understand this information and ensure that they are making informed decisions free from external pressures.
This position is working 8 hours per week (0.2 FTE) which can be flexible depending on the patients' needs.
Key Responsibilities: Provide education about the risks and benefits of living kidney donation to potential donors.Guide potential donors through the kidney donation assessment process, ensuring informed consent is obtained.Assess potential donors' comprehension of information and their capacity to make autonomous decisions.Evaluate donor motivations to confirm their choice is freely made without external influence.Liaise with the transplant assessment team and the donor's healthcare providers.Participate in transplant committee meetings and contribute to the assessment process.Proven experience in end-stage renal failure management, including kidney transplantation and dialysis.Experience managing patient expectations within complex health systems.Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.Desirable Qualifications: Experience or qualifications in counselling or similar fields.Personal Attributes: Ability to work independently or collaboratively within a team.Strong patient advocacy and focus on education.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Organizational and problem-solving capabilities.Sensitivity in handling complex social and cultural situations.Commitment to bi-culturalism and partnership, with an empathetic approach to patient care.Awareness of healthcare services and support systems.If you are self-motivated, confident, and passionate about helping others through complex health journeys, we encourage you to apply for this rewarding position.
