The Lifesaving & SAR Support Manager will report to the General Manager of Lifesaving.
Responsibilities include supporting the effectiveness of the SLS Paid Lifeguard Service (PLS) and developing the SAR framework to ensure SAR Leaders are well-supported and engaged.
This role will ensure best practices and sustainability for the long-term future of Surf Life Saving New Zealand.
The manager will oversee three direct reports (SAR Support Officers) across the motu, providing direct support to SLS SAR Teams and members.
We seek someone who can lead, manage, and support the SAR team to deliver a strong member-centered service.
The successful candidate will work under pressure, possess great organization, communication, and collaboration skills, and have enthusiasm and energy.
They will advocate for Surf Life Saving in relevant forums and with stakeholders such as NZSAR, NZ Police, Local Government, and other SAR partners.

The ability to lead, coach, develop, support, and positively influence others;
The ability to listen and communicate with impact and credibility;
Experience in managing budgets and staff, including remote locations;
The ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks;
A thorough understanding of SLSNZ;
Knowledge of surf life saving Search and Rescue operations;
Knowledge of surf life saving paid lifeguard service processes;
High-level oral and written communication skills, including attention to detail;
Project management experience and skills;
An ability to develop and present content to a range of audiences.
