Korero mo te turanga | About the role
We are looking for a Library Services Manager to lead the delivery of library services that support our researchers. You will manage a small team and ensure access to physical and digital academic resources that enable world-class research in environmental and ecological fields. This is a leadership role focused on aligning library services with institutional priorities and fostering innovation in information management and use.
Primary Responsibilities

Manage and enhance library services to meet MWLR's research needs.
Oversee the acquisition of journals, books, and databases, ensuring access to comprehensive, relevant collections.
Promote open access publishing.
Collaborate with other institutes for resource sharing and interlibrary loans.
Lead the implementation of Te Tiriti principles and ensure collections support Maori research.
Manage the library's budget and procurement of resources.
Lead a small team, fostering a strong customer service culture.

You will have a passion for supporting research and innovation through the provision of great library services. You are a forward-thinking leader who embraces digital transformation, champions open access, and demonstrates a commitment to bicultural values and diversity.
Qualifications and Experience

Master's degree (or equivalent or higher) in library and/or information management.
Experience of leading library teams, preferably in a research environment.
Significant hands-on experience in the operation, management and use of research library functions and services.
Knowledge of current trends and best practices in library and information science.
Experience in leading library innovation and transformation.
Familiarity with Te Ao Maori, tikanga, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles.
