We are recruiting for a Manager, Community Place – Devonport Library to lead a talented team and build relationships within a library-loving community!
With a proven track record in staff leadership, we are seeking a people person who can foster strong relationships with key stakeholders.
You will also create effective community practice, addressing needs and priorities of the local board and local communities and provide a safe, welcoming environment for customers and staff.
Key responsibilities include: Day-to-day operational management of the library including responsibility for financial and staffing allocations.Facilitate and grow community and partner-led activity which meets the needs of the community.Collaboratively manage recruitment and induction of staff for the local board team, as well as the mentoring, upskilling, and coaching of existing staff.Lead and develop staff to deliver excellence in visitor experiences.This is a permanent, full-time opportunity leading a team of 11, requiring flexibility to work across the Devonport-Takapuna local board as required.
The library is open seven days a week with some late nights required to support programmes and events.

Some key requirements to be successful in this role: Leadership and Management Experience: Proven ability to lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing team.Librarianship and Customer Services: Experience working within a library environment supporting teams and customers to learn, build knowledge, and capability.Relationship Building: Essential to success in community engagement and partnering within the Devonport-Takapuna local board community.Embracing Change and Diversity: Skilled in guiding teams through ambiguity, fostering diverse thinking, and creating a positive culture.You will be committed to being a great Tiriti o Waitangi partner and you understand the importance of te ao Maori and te reo Maori within our places.
