Library Assistant (Whitby Library)The library team provides a range of library services, collections, and spaces to the residents of Porirua City that support the community in relation to literacy, knowledge, information, research and study, recreation, and leisure activities.
All about the role This will be a popular vacancy, working part time in our Whitby Library as a Library Assistant in our Client Services team. Ideally, we are looking for someone with previous experience working in a library and a passion for providing excellent customer service to our community.
The hours of work for this role are Fridays from 9am to 5pm, and sole charge on Saturdays 10:15am to 2:15pm.
You will be responsible for:
Delivering "Toddler Time" each week, presenting stories and some music, encouraging participation from families.Supporting the provision of customer focused, innovative and effective library services at the Porirua Libraries.Assisting with reference enquiries.Creating a welcoming and stimulating environment for visitors to the library.General front desk duties such as answering general customer queries and issuing and returning items.Shelving returned items.Opening and closing of the library as needed.Porirua City is a living wage accredited employer and the hourly rate for this position is $28.14.
