A fantastic opportunity has arisen to work as our Librarian – Programme & Events, based at East Coast Bays Library. You will work closely across the board to co-ordinate programmes and events for both the East Coast Bays and Albany libraries.

This is a 38 hour position which focuses on developing closer relationships between our libraries and our community. The goal is to understand the needs of the people living in the Hibiscus and Bays and Upper Harbour Local Board areas & how we can provide innovative and interesting co-designed programming.
Libraries play a key role in providing a welcoming space and delivering professional services. This role collaborates and co-designs with the community inside and outside the library to reinforce this goal.
The role is currently based at East Coast Bays Library and will form part of the leadership team in library day-to-day operations and supporting the team. Your portfolio involves building and maintaining relationships, identifying service gaps, and applying co-design principles to design services, programmes, and events driven by community needs.
You will work 5 days each week, including one weekend day (with 2 days worked at Albany Library and 3 days at East Coast Bays Library).
He korero mou: About you: Is detail oriented, supremely organised with the ability to balance multiple tasks and priorities.Has excellent communication and customer service skills.Will provide day to day leadership and mentoring for operational and service excellence at our busy libraries.Is creative and able to create eye-catching posters, displays and social media posts to promote and support impactful programming.Can identify gaps within the Local Board communities and develop innovative programming to meet community needs.Will promote and raise awareness of library resources, services, and programmes, including digital programming.Is able to work collaboratively within the team guiding and mentoring other kaimahi to develop their own programming across the two libraries.You will have (or be working towards) a recognised library qualification.This is your chance to work with other kaimahi to support the local community and create compelling programme opportunities.
