About the Role
As a legal subject matter expert, you will play a pivotal role in the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools for the legal market. You will use your expertise in the legal domain, and that of the Leads and Experts in your team, to drive insights and recommendations to the business that are critical to creating the best features and products for our customers.
Reporting to the Manager Data Discovery and Enrichment APAC, this is a full-time role working within a newly created permanent team. This role will be based in New Zealand, preferably either Auckland or Wellington with flexibility to work from home.
About the Data Discovery and Enrichment team
Data Discovery and Enrichment Experts are subject matter experts in the legal domain, playing a key role in leading the transformation of legal technology. They partner with data scientists, data engineers, and product managers to create cutting-edge artificial intelligence solutions with legal data. Data Discovery and Enrichment Experts provide annotation, evaluation, and feedback to their partners which are critical to the development of these solutions.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with DDE team members, product team, and data science team to plan AI review projects, including drafting initial prompt sets and ensuring sufficient time for review phases.
Conduct detailed reviews of AI tool outputs, rate responses, and provide detailed feedback to the data science team for incremental improvements.
Supervise and review the work of junior colleagues, including DDE I experts.
Establish SME testing plans and ensure sufficient SME resources are in place.
Provide annotation, evaluation, and feedback to data scientists, data engineers, and product managers.
Execute best practices in creating and maintaining training data and relevance evaluations.
Communicate actionable feedback and provide customer-focused insights.
Requirements
Have a Law degree with experience in a New Zealand legal practice role.
Be competent in advanced legal research and writing.
Have moderate professional experience in managing, coaching, and mentoring others.
Be a natural problem solver.
Have a customer-centric mindset.
Be able to manage highly complex projects.
