Mo tenei turanga | About this role Responsibilities As a Manager, you'll be 2IC to the Head of Legal, offering support on delivering legal advice across a variety of areas, with 2 direct reports. Your responsibilities will include but not be limited to: working on commercial contracts interpreting relevant legislation proactively building relationships with key internal customers to build better understanding of the strategic context supporting greater visibility of the pipeline and progress of work managing the timely delivery of litigation and legal opinions ensuring that systems and frameworks are in place for regular reporting Your experience will include working on complex legal issues, drafting contracts, interpreting contracts and giving legal opinions. You'll be comfortable working within and navigating the complexities of a high-paced and high-change environment. You'll also be managing a small team assisting with workload allocation and individual professional development. You will position the team to shape, define and respond to the future. Be it policy or service delivery, you will work effectively with others to figure out what the future should look like – and how to get there. Mohou ake | About you We are looking for someone with 10+ years of legal experience, preferably with some of that acquired in the public sector with a strong understanding of the machinery of government. Experience with commercial contracts and interpreting legislation is essential, but knowledge of the specific Acts related to this organisation will be considered a bonus. While formal management experience is not essential, you will need to have mentored and supported other lawyers in the past and ideally have experience delegating work.
