About the organisation Te Ture Whanui o Waitaha, Community Law Canterbury (CLC) is a not-for-profit organisation that works to reduce and remove barriers to the law. CLC provides accessible, quality legal help and advice to people in Canterbury and the West Coast, who face barriers in accessing justice and doing so in alignment with Te Tiriti o Waitangi and the values of CLC. The CLC works with key justice and social agencies to ensure the right services are available to those people who really need them. About the opportunity We have a part-time (15hrs a week) position available in our Legal Education Team. This role involves organising, preparing, and delivering talks on legal matters to various communities. You would be joining an existing team of four other part time educators. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following: · A commitment to the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi; · Understands or is prepared to learn a range of legal topics relevant to Community Law Canterbury clients; · Strong communication skills; · A community focused outlook; · Clear and accurate written and oral communication; · Comfortable presenting to large groups of people of varying abilities; · Exhibits a professional client focused attitude; · Able to work independently and as part of a team where it is appropriate to do so; · Can bring innovative and creative ideas to grow and improve our service; · Experience with marginalised communities, including but not limited to migrants, disabled people and/or youth would be an advantage · Teaching experience would be a bonus, but is not essential · Be open to delivering education for MSD clients and local prisons · Contribute to resource and content creation All applicants must: - Have the legal right to work in New Zealand; - Have a full drivers licence; and - Be open to being flexible with working hours, as some of the role may require work in evenings and on a weekend.
