Legal and Client Services Officer / Paralegal Southpac Group has been providing wealth planning services to high net worth individuals for over 40 years.
We connect our clients with global solutions to help protect their assets and their legacies.
We are looking to recruit someone with top-notch customer service, administrative, and legal skills to support our busy team of international trust law specialists, which provides in-house legal services to Southpac's trustee and corporate service companies in the Cook Islands, Nevis, and New Zealand.
In this role, you will be a key face of Southpac: the primary point of contact for many of the company's clients and referring attorneys based all over the world, primarily in the US.
You will be responsible for triaging client requests, reallocating tasks within the legal team, and gathering due diligence and trust and company financial information to help Southpac meet its compliance obligations.
You will also handle client enquiries and be responsible for drafting transactional legal documents and other legal drafting as necessary in connection with the management and administration of international trusts and companies, as well as for template and data management.
Key duties and responsibilities: Acting as the primary contact for clients and referrers, triaging their enquiries, carrying out transactional work and referring more complex tasks within the legal team as needed.
Using, maintaining, and adapting templates to draft legal documents for common transactions.
Requesting and reviewing supporting documentation for client transactions.
Obtaining and analysing client due diligence and financial information for trusts and companies.
Liaising with Southpac's compliance officers to ensure client and entity information is up-to-date.
Who are we looking for?
The position will suit someone with previous experience in a paralegal, legal executive or similar legal support role, particularly in a trust or company law environment.
You will be highly organized and efficient, with a proven background in administration and customer service.
You will be adept at picking up new tasks quickly, grasping complex concepts, successfully managing a large caseload, and showing initiative.
You may be working towards admission as a lawyer.
You will also be a people person with a strong customer service ethic.
As the primary contact for Southpac's clients and referrers, you will need to be adept at understanding their needs.
We need someone who is a great communicator on both the professional and personal level and who is comfortable in a front-of-house role.
You must be eligible to live and work in New Zealand.
What we can offer you: A generous starting salary of $60k-$70k depending on experience, with great pay progression and development opportunities.
Potential for future promotion to lawyer role.
Flexible start/finish times and split home/office working arrangements.
Collaborative and supportive working environment.
Annual bonus when performance targets are met.
The job is full-time, 40 hours per week (with potential for some flexibility) and will be based in Southpac Group's brand new First Ave head office.
You'll be working within a team of legal professionals who are part of a friendly and diverse global team of over 25 staff.
If you're looking for great work/life balance, look no further: since most of our dealings are with the US market, many of our staff start work early and finish in time to pick up the kids from school, pursue their hobbies, or hit the beach.
