Full-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)Continuing (permanent) positionAu Mahi | What You Will Do
We invite applications for a continuing Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Software Engineering (equivalent to Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in the US academic System) to join our diverse and dynamic department.
You will teach into the growing Software Engineering undergraduate programme, which is accredited by Engineering New Zealand to the internationally recognised Washington Accord. You will also instruct at the postgraduate level and supervise research students.
You will develop a strong, externally funded research programme that complements the Department's present research activities, but is not limited to these topics. You will be encouraged to contribute and extend the department's extensive network of collaboration with researchers and industry both internationally and locally.
Finally, faculty staff are expected to participate in Departmental and University activities and administration, and collaborate with other academics in the Department's teaching and research activities.
Mou | Who You Are
You will be expected to hold (or obtain) a Ph.D. degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science (or a closely aligned discipline) and have a demonstrated record of published research in Software Engineering (or a closely aligned discipline). The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence in teaching of core courses in Software Engineering at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The appointee will also demonstrate a background in supervising final year undergraduate projects, Masters, and Ph.D. students (according to opportunity), an ability in collaborating with others in the University, and interest in contributing to Departmental, College, and University activities.
We encourage applications from candidates with a background in any area of Software Engineering research and teaching. This includes technical topics, such as software maintenance and evolution, software performance and reliability engineering, software testing). It also includes non-technical topics, such as agile software development practices in group project courses, coaching of teams, human factors in software engineering.
