Lecturer / Senior Lecturer in Software Development and Computer ScienceThe Department of Computer Science & Software Engineering at Auckland University of Technology (AUT), part of the School of Engineering, Computer, and Mathematical Sciences within the Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies, is inviting applications for a full-time, permanent Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position specialising in Software Development and Computer Science. The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high-quality teaching and supervision across various subjects such as programming, software design, full-stack web development, and mentoring student teams in software development and other CS/IT contexts. We particularly welcome candidates interested in real-time graphics or game programming, as well as human-centric aspects of computing such as ethics, human-computer interaction (HCI), and user experience (UX).We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, who have demonstrated research excellence in software development, software engineering, or similar domains. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in both research and teaching, with a strong focus on software development methodologies, system design, and programming practices. Proficiency in current programming languages, software development frameworks, and full-stack development technologies is essential to contribute to the department's innovation and growth.Key Responsibilities:Leading and developing courses in software development, programming, and software engineering.Contributing to research outputs that align with the broader goals of the department and the university.Supervising student projects and mentoring junior faculty members.Integrating research and practical components to enhance learning outcomes.Demonstrating adaptability in teaching strategies for hybrid and online learning environments.Undertaking a postgraduate qualification in higher education (teaching and learning).The candidate should have a clear research direction that aligns with the School's strategic goals. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, especially in socio-cultural impacts or explainable AI.
