In addition to teaching undergraduate medical students, we offer world-class postgraduate education and research opportunities to medical professionals, and PhD and masters' students. The role/Te mahi Applications are invited for a full-time, permanent position as Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Pukenga/Pukenga Matua) - Eye health within the Department of Medicine, Dunedin School of Medicine. Appointment to the position of Lecturer or Senior Lecturer is dependent on academic achievement, skills and experience. This role presents an exciting opportunity for a senior academic or clinician to make a significant contribution to the ongoing education of students in medicine. The successful candidate will play a leading role in teaching and curriculum development at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, engage in postgraduate supervision, and conduct an independent research programme in eye health and ophthalmology. Skills and experience/Ka pukeka me ka wheako Preferred candidates for this role should be one of the following: A medically qualified ophthalmology specialist (who holds or is eligible for vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council) and has an interest in academia An academic optometrist with a PhD, who holds or is eligible for vocational registration with the Optometry Council of Australia and New Zealand, and a verifiable track record in academia A medical doctor from any other specialty (who holds or is eligible for vocational registration with the NZ Medical Council) and has a verifiable track record in academia An orthoptist with a PhD, and a verifiable track record in academia To be successful in this role you will also be expected to have the following: A postgraduate research degree is desirable Teaching experience at the undergraduate and postgraduate level Appropriate research experience, and the ability to establish a vigorous research programme A commitment to developing collaborative working relationships with colleagues and to supporting the University's Maori, Pacific, and Sustainability strategic frameworks Further details/Puroko This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) permanent position based in Dunedin. We welcome applications from candidates seeking part-time hours; the work hours will be negotiable with the successful candidate, ranging from 0.2 FTE to full-time. The appointment range per annum for this appointment is: Medical Staff Lecturer - $92,028 to $112,514 Senior Lecturer - $138,548 to $179,524 Non-Medical Staff Lecturer - $90,902 to $107,300 Senior Lecturer - $112,482 to $138,182 The University of Otago is a research-intensive university, with a long history of excellence.
