Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in SilvicultureSchool of ForestryLocated in Otautahi | Christchurch, Aotearoa | New ZealandFull-time 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)Continuing (permanent) positionAu Mahi | What You Will DoWe invite applications for a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (equivalent to an Assistant or Associate Professor in the US System) / Associate Professor position in Silviculture. The level of appointment will depend on the successful candidate's relevant experience.The successful applicant will have a broad knowledge of all aspects of Silviculture, including alternative silvicultural systems, species selection, deployment strategies, establishment, tending and the use of decision support systems. You will have strong quantitative skills in experimental design, statistical analysis and modelling. You will have a broad world view and deep understanding of the forestry sector. You will bring both academic credentials and industry knowledge to this position and will also be expected to develop links with and contribute to the wider forestry profession at local, national and international levels.Mou | Who You AreApplicants will hold a Ph.D. degree in Forestry Science (or a closely aligned discipline), and have a demonstrated record of published research. However, applicants who are working towards a Ph.D. degree, or have relevant industry experience and are willing to work towards a Ph.D., are also encouraged to apply and would be appointed at the Lecturer level.The successful candidate will have a commitment to excellence in teaching of core courses in forestry at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, delivering effective teaching methods that enable a wide range of learners to succeed.The appointee will also, ideally, demonstrate a background in supervising final year undergraduate projects, Masters and Ph.D. students, an ability to collaborate with others in the University, and interest in contributing to Departmental, College, and University activities.Mahi Ngatahi | Who You Will Work WithThe purpose of the School of Forestry is to provide internationally-recognised New Zealand-relevant forestry education and research.
