Join our dynamic whanau dedicated to student success and an exceptional learning environment.Unitec's teaching team seeks a new member who is passionate about the transformative power of education, and who will lead and guide the embedding of Matauranga Maori into all we do.This role focuses on teaching and supporting akonga in early childhood education.You will be proficient in te reo and tikanga Maori and have experience in applying a kaupapa Maori led approach in the context of early childhood education, in addition to teaching our suite of 'kete' courses. This role is pivotal in leading programme development and implementation that acknowledges the value of whakaaro Maori as a positive and integral inclusion in all of our courses.Our relationship with our Marae whanau is highly valued. We draw upon their experience and guidance as we embrace their knowledge and acknowledge their expertise. There is an expectation that all who become part of our ECE whanau will embrace this.Core responsibilities of this role include:Leading the implementation of our Early Childhood Education Rautaki te reo Maori strategyLeading Matauranga Maori throughout the programmeTeaching across our early childhood degree coursesProviding leadership in developing an understanding of Maori values and tikanga within our Kete courses to support the success of tauira Maori and all studentsLeading with confidence and lived experience in te reo and Matauranga Maori, with the ability and passion to share the beauty of te ao Maori.Leading Matauranga Maori and promoting the use of te reo Maori and tikanga throughout the programmeYou will have:A sound understanding of ako practices that lead to improved educational outcomes, alongside an understanding of their importance within the Early Childhood Curriculum: Te WharikiExperience as a teacher, passionate about ako and its significant role in our education system. Tertiary teaching and research experience is an advantage.An understanding and capability in te reo me nga tikanga Maori, with the ability to share the beauty of Te Ao Maori. Fluency in te reo Maori is an advantage.Strong relationship-building skills, effective communication with diverse groups and individuals, and an understanding of teaching in various settings.A post-graduate qualification or be working towards one is advantageous.This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
