Due to a staff resignation, an opportunity has arisen to join our Hawke's Bay Viticulture and Wine Team from January 2025 in the position of Lecturer in Viticulture and Plant Science. Reporting to the Head of School Viticulture and Wine, the main focus of the role is teaching into the Degree programme on the Napier site to on-campus and online degree students. This is a practical, hands-on programme preparing students for successful careers in a rapidly evolving workforce. The role also includes travel and teaching in Jinan, China, at least once a year for periods of up to four weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver high-quality lectures, laboratories, and practical training sessions in Viticulture and Plant Science.

Develop and update curriculum to align with industry standards and emerging trends.

Assess the performance of students and give appropriate feedback.

Provide mentorship and guidance to students, fostering their growth and skill development.

Maintain clearly defined learning objectives and learning outcomes as per programme regulations.

Effectively facilitate the learning process through a wide variety of experiences and activities by encouraging students to participate in and accept responsibility for their learning.

Contribute to the research environment within the school.

Integrate and work effectively within an existing successful team.

Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelor's degree in related fields.

Must be able to provide a clear police check.

A functioning network of contacts within the local industry and community.

Teaching experience is highly desirable.

Familiarity with industry regulations, standards, and best practices.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Commitment to promoting a positive and inclusive learning environment.
