Mo Tenei Turanga Mahi | About the RoleThe Bachelor of Teaching Primary (BTP) team values authentic collaborative partnerships and continuously seeks to strengthen these relationships.
A recent initiative that greatly benefited the programme was contracting Mentor Teachers as visiting Teacher Educators part-time.
In 2025, EIT will extend this initiative by offering a full-time, fixed-term, year-long Teacher Educator/Lecturer position to a staff member from a BTP partner school.
This opportunity is open to any teacher with a full practicing certificate interested in teaching in the tertiary space, alongside the Taradale BTP Teacher Educating team.
We envisage the selected teacher taking a year of leave from their school.The selected teacher will also have the opportunity to enrol for free in EIT's Master of Professional Practice and undertake master's level study, with a time allowance within their workload for this study.
Tertiary teaching experience is not necessary, and course teaching will be negotiated with the successful teacher, considering their strengths and interests.The appointing salary for this role will be between $80,000 and $90,000, dependent on skills and experience.The Primary Education lecturer is based in Hawkes Bay, | Te Pukenga reporting to the Head of School, Education and Social Sciences and will be responsible for: Curriculum Development and Student Learning: Prepare and update curricula, develop course materials, and facilitate effective learning experiences that uphold Te Tiriti O Waitangi and incorporate 21st-century teaching strategies.
Student Well-Being and Support: Assist students as needed, liaise with student support services, and maintain professional standards of practice.
Assessment and Evaluation: Conduct valid and reliable evaluations, assess student performance, and maintain accurate student records, including internal and external moderation.
Research and Professional Development: Contribute to research and scholarly activities, stay updated with relevant developments, and participate in professional groups and performance appraisals.
He korero mou| About youTo be successful in this role you will have: Knowledge and Experience: Recent Primary Education workplace experience with a current full Teaching Council practising certificate is essential.
Tertiary teaching experience and knowledge of curriculum development, especially in primary education, are highly desirable.
Skills Required: Well-developed oral, written, interpersonal, and leadership skills, along with strong organizational and administrative abilities.
Proven ability to plan, meet deadlines, and coordinate academic delivery effectively.
Special Aptitudes: Ability to work as a team member within the Primary Education programme, understanding and appreciating student learning, and commitment to designing and delivering quality programmes.
Empathy with Maori language and culture and a commitment to a culturally sensitive working environment.
Qualifications: A Master's degree or higher qualification is highly desired, with a tertiary teaching qualification and experience being advantageous.
