If you have an interest in supporting students to enter the hairdressing and/or beauty industry, UCOL's Manawatu Campus has an exciting opportunity available for a motivated and passionate Beauty/Retail Lecturer, fixed-term (ends October 2025), part-time position (8 hours per week). The successful candidate will have current skills, knowledge and ideally 3 to 5 years current industry experience to deliver the beauty and retail content to our U-Skills (Trades Academy) Hair, Beauty and Retail programme. Delivery is shared across the team.
This position, based in Palmerston North, will require you to be hands-on, facilitating one-on-one learning, mentoring and motivating students, and working with students individually. Your well-tuned rapport and communication skills will be essential. As well as working with a dynamic team, you will have the full support of the Academic Portfolio Manager.

Applicants for this position must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work visa and will be required to undergo pre-employment checks, including completing New Zealand Police Vetting as part of the Children's Act 2014 for this safety-sensitive role. Skills & ExperienceYou must be a qualified beauty therapist with a recognised diploma qualification and ideally three to five years current industry experience including retail.An Adult Tertiary Teaching qualification and/or the NZ Certificate in Adult Literacy and Numeracy Education and/or unit 4098 work-based assessor or be working toward these.Experience delivering at the tertiary level and/or extensive industry experience, ideally including training and supporting trainees/apprentices.
