Mountainview High School is a co-educational school with a dedicated learning support centre that supports 25 ORS verified learners. We seek an energetic and innovative learning support teacher to join our amazing Whare Ako team.
As a learning support teacher, you will:
Provide targeted, individualised support to students with diverse learning needs
Work closely with classroom teachers, families, and external support agencies to develop and implement learning plans
Use a variety of strategies and resources to support students' social, emotional, and academic growth
Foster a positive, inclusive environment that promotes student well-being and resilience
Support students in accessing and succeeding in NCEA (National Certificate of Educational Achievement) when applicable
Key responsibilities:
Individualised Learning Plans : Develop and monitor individual learning plans tailored to each student's specific needs and abilities
Collaboration : Work in partnership with teachers, support staff, and families to create cohesive support strategies
Progress Monitoring : Assess and track student progress regularly, adjusting support plans as needed
Inclusion and Advocacy : Champion an inclusive environment, ensuring students with learning differences feel valued and supported
Professional Development : Stay updated with best practices in learning support and inclusive education
Key requirements:
Registered with the New Zealand Teaching Council and hold a current practicing certificate
Experience in Learning Support , Special Education , or a related area, with a strong understanding of diverse learning needs
Skilled in building positive relationships with students, staff, and families
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Commitment to the values and ethos of Mountainview High School
