An exciting opportunity has arisen to apply for the role of learning support coordinator (LSC) based at Te Hapara School in Gisborne. We are part of the Turanganui a Kiwa Kahui Ako. This role has been shared between 3 closely situated kura and offers the chance to make a significant impact on the lives of children with disabilities and additional learning needs.
As an LSC, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and shaping the learning support system for our schools and kura. This involves working closely with kaiako, school leadership teams, parents, whanau, and community providers. Your work will help build inclusive learning environments, empower kaiako to better meet the diverse needs of learners, and ensure that all students have equitable access to services and resources they require to succeed.
To be considered, applicants should be experienced teachers with the following skills:
Proven experience in supporting students with learning needs in the classroom
Capacity to engage with middle leaders, senior leadership teams, and Kahui Ako
A deep commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi
Ability to collaboratively develop programmes with kaiako and kaiawhina
Flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of individual students and our kura
Experience working with various agencies to ensure students have access to necessary internal and external services
Capability to support kaiako in enhancing their teaching practices
Excellent organisational, communication, and motivational skills
A current practicing certificate and relevant teaching qualification
Adherence to professional standards relevant to your position.
