About Liger Leadership Academy
The Liger Leadership Academy is committed to transforming education by fostering innovative, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences. Our unique learning framework goes beyond traditional academic achievements, encouraging students to develop critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills that prepare them for the complexities of the modern world. 50% of our learner's time is focused on Essential learning - Maths, Literacy, Humanities, Science, and 50% for Explorations, which are Liger's project, experiential and opportunity-based projects.
Key Responsibilities of a Liger Facilitator:

Design great learning: Learning that goes beyond the ordinary, incorporating relevant, exciting and complex concepts, real-world applications, and experiential learning that captivate and challenge.
Inspire and Innovate: Utilise cutting-edge technology and creative problem-solving strategies to foster an environment where students are excited to explore the complexities of the world around them.
Lead with Passion: Engage students with dynamic teaching methods and inspiring projects that go far beyond textbook learning.
Empower learners: Mentor students to not only grasp scientific principles but to apply them in innovative ways, encouraging them to think critically and solve real-world problems.
Collaborate and Create: Work with a team of forward-thinking educators to integrate interdisciplinary approaches, develop unique educational strategies, and contribute to a culture of academic and personal excellence.

Liger Facilitator not Teacher:
At Liger, we believe in the power of facilitation over traditional teaching. Facilitation is about guiding and inspiring students to discover and construct their own understanding. Our priority is to develop critical thinking, independence and foster creativity, so Liger Facilitators create dynamic learning where students actively engage, question, and explore.
Liger's Exploration program:

4 x 2 hours per week
Integrate the real world and real people into learning experiences
Written curriculum development
Facilitate the learning process for each learner, personalised learning approach
Seek to create impact on self or others, meaningful purpose.
Provide feedback and measure progress based on Exploration criteria

Liger's Essentials program:

Develop scope and sequence documents
Know your learners, personalised learning approach
Strive for alignment and connection as part of a broader Essentials program
Provide feedback and measure progress based on Essentials criteria
Design curriculum and align with the new NZ curriculum
Juniors - collaborate on the planning and delivery of curriculum, Liger's criterion-based assessment and reporting systems
Seniors - design and deliver curriculum - align with selected NCEA L2 / 3 Achievement Standards. Liger does not do NCEA Level 1

Facilitation duties:

Essentials: Year 9-11 four contact hours each week, and Year 12 - three contact hours each with an additional hour as self-study
Liger Exploration - 8 hours contact a week
One morning duty and one Lunch duty per week
Expectation to offer an after school Extension activity each term

Always required as a Liger facilitator:

Continuously seek out and implement the latest educational trends and methodologies to ensure our programs are at the cutting edge of educational innovation.
Promote a skills and inquiry based learning approach with a focus on innovation, leadership and developing an entrepreneurial mindset.
Ensure that teaching and learning at Liger Academy caters for the needs of all students and builds on what they can already do, know and understand.
Identify and act on opportunities to improve teaching and learning everywhere at Liger.
Live Liger's core values everyday… (trying really really hard also counts)
Guiding learners to learn how to learn (this one is really important).
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to inspire and engage students.

Qualifications and Experience:

Be a registered Teacher in NZ or with the ability to gain registration.
Experience with NCEA qualification framework.
