We're looking for part-time Learn to Swim Instructors to join our Pool and Leisure Centre teams across Auckland to help achieve that goal!
Based at Glenfield Pools and Leisure Centre, this is a fantastic job where you can gain a formal qualification teaching people the basic principles of how to swim, while maintaining a fun, caring, and safe environment for customers and visitors. We'll provide the training you need to succeed in the role.
We would love to hear from those who can work at least 9 hours per week and are eager to learn. All training is provided. Please note that you will need to work for at least one weekday morning shift AND one weekend shift. The shifts are below:
Weekday classes between 9:30am-1:30pm or 3:15pm-7pm;
You are a great swimmer, instructor, and customer service superstar. You will have a love of water, exceptional customer service skills, and can communicate well with members of the public. A passion for working with our diverse community while also making a difference is essential.
If you have a recognised swim teacher qualification or previous experience as a Swimming Instructor, that would be fantastic! However, we will provide full, comprehensive training. You must also be willing to complete First Aid training.
You will be required to attend the following training dates if you do not have an AUSTSWIM qualification:
13th - 23rd January 2025As a Learn to Swim Instructor, you'll have free access to our facilities, hours that provide work-life balance, and above all else, you will be part of a fun and supportive team. You will also have the satisfaction of knowing the work you do is important and impactful, especially the pride and joy you will get from watching someone gain the confidence that comes from learning how to swim.
We strongly encourage upskilling and training. Once you are hired, you will have the opportunity to pick up extra hours in a variety of roles, such as Lifeguard, Customer Service Rep, Recreation Assistant, and more.

Pay rate: $27.80 /hr Auckland Council is committed to the protection and wellbeing of children. This role is classified as a Children's Worker role under the Vulnerable Children Act 2014. As such, applicants will be required to undergo police vetting prior to commencing employment. This position is also deemed a safety-sensitive position and will require pre-employment drug testing.
