About the role
As the Lead Sales Engineer within the Sales Design team, you will provide impactful leadership and guidance to your direct reports and facilitate the delivery of effective, technical design solutions.
Collaborating closely with your team, you will offer mechanical design support throughout the tender process, from estimation to submission. A key part of this role involves collaborating with the sales team, estimators and other engineering departments to gain a clear understanding of the client's requirements, in order to develop and deliver the most effective solution.
Please note: The official title for this role is Sales Design Team Lead.
Other key accountabilities:
Engineer and design conveyor layout over client's architectural plans according to the design requirement and specification.
Communicate regularly with other members of the project/bid team and be proactive in seeking necessary information to complete the design.
Allocate tasks and ensure timely delivery of layouts, take-offs and information to the costing team.
Occasional domestic and international travel for site visits to verify and gather information.
Leadership accountabilities:
Set clear objectives and guide the team towards achieving successful outcomes.
Define clear performance expectations, monitor progress and provide guidance and coaching as required.
Act as a key facilitator for the team and organisation with internal and external communications.

Skills & Experience
This role requires someone with a methodical, process-driven approach, with exceptional planning and organisational skills. As a seasoned, strategic leader, you understand how to maximise your team's skills and experience, in order to effectively navigate the complexities of a dynamic project environment.
Other key requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Experience with material handling systems and belt conveyors is preferred but not essential.
Experience leading a team.
Experience with CAD tools, preferably 3D AutoCAD and Navisworks.
Ability to prepare and interpret concept plans and layouts.
