Lead Operations Delivery - Flood Operations Two positions available - Wellington/Kapiti Region (based in Lower Hutt and Otaki) and Masterton We're looking for two enthusiastic and future-focused people to join our dedicated Flood Operations team. These are permanent roles, one based in Lower Hutt (and Otaki) and the other in Masterton.
The Flood Operations team has been through a process to ensure it is set up for success and to accommodate planned growth over the coming years. An entirely new level of leadership has been established, so it's an exciting time to join the team that has a critical role in protecting our communities from flooding, maintaining and providing oversight of our flood resilience work across the region.
About the role: You will be an experienced people leader who will work alongside mana whenua to achieve their aspirations for the watercourses of the region. A key delivery face, you will use your operational knowledge and experience to deliver work programmes that align with catchment priorities and ensure the successful operation, maintenance, and compliance of the region's flood protection and drainage schemes while working collaboratively with communities and other agencies to achieve this. You will have a strong focus on health, safety and wellbeing within a dynamic environment and developing a positive team culture.
Flood incident management is critical to this role, and you will lead and manage the delivery of the overall operational recovery phase after flood events.
Skills and experience required: Proven people leadership skills within an operational context Experience working with people from a variety of disciplines and with a range of views and expectations. Understanding of asset planning and management, financial reporting, budgeting and operational planning and project management. Experience in river engineering and the management of civil engineering and building contractors and contracts would be preferred. Experience working in a cross-functional, collaborative way - bringing together teams working towards shared objectives. Experience leading programmes and projects to successful completion including embedding of organisational change into business as usual.
