In general, the work of the Heavy Equipment Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: No direct supervisory responsibilities. However, position does assign work orders and prioritize work to appropriate staff. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: Heavy Equipment and Fire Truck Maintenance. Repair/Replace tires. Trouble shooting electrical, hydraulic, fuel delivery system, engine diagnostics. Must be able to communicate clearly with customers. QUALIFICATIONS: Must have 4 years' experience. Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a current drivers license. Must be able to pass a back ground check to work on Base.
