Your new role
We are looking for safety-minded operator to join our Dunedin Yard. This is an exciting opportunity to both develop and grow within the role and the business.
Reporting to the Yard Manager, you will lead the team of 4 staff members to safely operate machinery and assist with the efficient processing of scrap metal. Full training will be provided for the successful applicants!
Your responsibilities will include:
Timely and professional face-to-face customer service in the office and warehouse.
Organize and maintain the warehouse and the yard, ensuring a tidy and safe working environment.
Good problem-solving, planning, and prioritizing skills.
Lead a small team of 4 staff members.
Essential Criteria:
Experience in customer service, basic computer skills.
Attention to detail – This role will be working with metals, requiring the position to be able to identify and separate material.
Good written and verbal communication, and numeracy skills.
Minimum 1 year experience in a machine operator or similar position (e.g. forklift, material handler, excavator/shear).
Desirable criteria:
Knowledge and understanding of scrap metal processing techniques and equipment.
Experience in operating other heavy machinery (e.g. dump trucks, front end loader, 20T or more forklift).
Forklift, WTR, Dangerous Goods, Hiab, Class 2 preferred.
