Will you join us as our new Lead Hand? Bring your horticulture knowledge and plant production experience to our team! As a Lead Hand you will be part of our specialised Young Plant Team that works efficiently to grow and nurture seedlings to produce strong healthy plants for our commercial customers in purpose-built glasshouses. To be successful you'll have: A Horticulture qualification or relevant nursery experience Forklift certificate is desirable (if you're keen, we can help with that) Strong numeracy and literacy skills Flexibility – you'll need to be available for weekends on a rostered basis Physical fitness for hands-on nursery work Ability to follow instructions and show initiative We are keen to talk to anyone who has either a horticulture qualification or experience in a plant production nursery. Day to day you'll be: Supporting the Young Plant Team Leader in the preparation, movement and dispatch of seedlings Maintaining a high level of productivity, efficiency and ensuring minimal waste Assisting with the leadership of seasonal workers Doing practical hands-on work – lots of bending and lifting Achieving deadlines Flexibility is important – you will be rostered on the growing roster one weekend day per fortnight (or per month in the quiet season). You will also be part of the spray team which requires you to work until about 6:30pm once a week.
