Lead Estimator - Electrical

McKay are currently recruiting for a Lead Estimator to join the project delivery team in our Auckland Team based in Penrose. This role will work on a range of projects diverse in size and scale.As Lead Estimator, you will report directly to our Manager of Project Delivery, and will support the Auckland project team with estimating services. You will also work collaboratively across the wider McKay team to support business needs where required.You will play a key role in developing a Centre of Excellence, to ensure that all McKay teams follow standardised processes for estimating.You should expect to spend your time:Collaborating with internal departments, subcontractors, suppliers and clients to gather information and ensure accurate estimation.Negotiating with vendors and suppliers to secure competitive rates.Overseeing and developing quality control in the bidding and estimating process.Distributing specifications and drawings and obtaining input into design, pricing and preparation of project, tender and contract documentation.Identifying potential risks and uncertainties associated with project execution and incorporation of contingency plans into cost estimates.Reviewing and interpreting commercial contracts.Establishing the budgets for projects, cashflow and resource planning, costing and preparation of variations.Training and developing our people to ensure best practices, industry standards, and new technologies are utilised.Maintaining accurate and organised records of estimates, bids and project related documentation.Skills and Experience:Proven experience as a senior electrical estimator or a similar role within the electrical industry.Education: Electrical trade qualifications, project/contract management qualifications or Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, quantity surveying.Strong knowledge of electrical standards, codes and regulations.Proficiency in electrical estimating and CRM software, Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.Excellent analytical, mathematical, communication and negotiation skills.Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.Life at McKay:Our employees play a pivotal role in driving our success, and we take great pride in fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
