The Grid team oversees all aspects of the grid during the sales, construction, and service phases of projects throughout the Asia Pacific, with a focus on Australia and New Zealand.
You will collaborate with a team of engineering experts across the region, working closely with various cross-functional teams to deliver competitive and compliant grid solutions.
This role includes technical and resource management during the construction phase, overseeing grid compliance, and managing the balance of plant processes for multiple projects.
Responsibilities Work closely with the power system studies team to define the wind farm generator performance standards, and develop the wind farm control system, functional design specification and reactive plant requirements.
Coordinate activities with the grid modelling team, functional leaders, project managers, contract managers, sales team, and other internal stakeholders.
Review grid connection and compliance reports and package submissions from subcontractors and internal stakeholders against industry best practices, grid code requirements, and international and local standards, in addition to Vestas' contractual and interfacing requirements from the perspective of grid connection and compliance.
Ensure grid connection and compliance deliverables required to be submitted by Vestas are provided in a timely manner and of high-quality.
Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure grid connection and compliance issues are resolved in a timely manner.
Undertake and support the commissioning and testing of the wind farm, grid monitoring equipment and control systems.
Undertake generator performance standards approval through NER Clause 5.3.4A (R0), generator registration (R1), and generator compliance testing and model validation reporting (R2) with AEMO and NSP/TSO.
Prepare project-specific grid compliance test plans, noting the grid requirements and understanding of the plant limitations.
Prepare test schedules for the different grid compliance testing activities with consideration to the project schedules.
Prepare site-specific functional design specifications for the park-level controller and wind turbine generators based on the computer models, and the agreed generator performance standards.
Coordinate with the NSP/TSO/Customer and undertake generator performance standards compliance testing, and model validation (R2) testing and liaison with site-based personnel and operators.
Engage and manage power systems engineering consultancies when required.
Discuss with internal stakeholders and prepare formal responses to inquiries regarding wind farm technical performance.
Prepare and deliver technical presentations to customers.
Attend and provide input to various safety, design, technical and risk meetings, workshops and reviews.
Assess Variations, Requests for Information (RFIs) and payment claims.
Review tender specifications.
Qualifications Engineering degree in Electrical or Power Systems.
5+ years of experience in power systems operations, grid connection applications, grid compliance testing and power system analysis.
Ability to manage consultants and designers in a construction environment.
Experience in the reviewing of grid connection and compliance reports.
Any grid connection and compliance experience, especially wind farm Hold Point testing will be highly valued.
Generator and power systems modelling, especially of wind farms will be highly valued.
Experience using PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory simulation tools.
Any experience in negotiation with major stakeholders, such as clients, consultants, contractors and electricity authorities.
Experience in a high-pressure environment.
