Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Draftsman to join our rapidly growing team. In this role, you will not only lead and execute a variety of drafting and design projects using Autodesk Inventor but also play a crucial part in shaping the company's mission of becoming the region's leading manufacturer. You will be heavily involved in developing and maintaining our internal CAD and drafting standards, always with an eye on manufacture-ready deliverables that align with our commitment to quality and efficiency. Key Projects You Will Be Involved In: Steel Structures Access Platforms Process Pipework (Water, Slurry, Air, etc.) Mechanical Equipment Hydraulic Cylinders & Componentry Machined Components Sheet Metal Items Heavy Earthmoving Equipment Transfer Chutes, Hoppers, etc. General Mining & Process Equipment Primary Responsibilities: Lead and Execute Drafting Projects : Use Autodesk Inventor to execute high-quality design projects that align with the company's commitment to comprehensive manufacturing excellence. Develop and Maintain CAD Standards : Create and uphold internal CAD and drafting standards to streamline the design process, ensuring our deliverables set the benchmark for manufacturing in North West Queensland. Manufacture-Ready Deliverables : Produce drawings and models optimized for manufacturing, including DXFs and detailed plans, reinforcing our vision of operational efficiency and quality output. On-Site Project Involvement: Visit client sites to scope projects, conduct 3D scanning, and have the opportunity to see your designs come to life, contributing directly to our reputation as the region's top manufacturer. 3D Scanning: Register 3D laser scan point clouds using Autodesk Recap and Faro Scene to assist in reverse engineering and project setup. Project Setup: Set up projects for the drafting team in Team Server, ensuring smooth workflows. Scope of Work Preparation : Prepare detailed scopes of work that outline project requirements, driving our goal of delivering precise, client-focused solutions. Peer Reviews : Conduct peer reviews of designs and drawings, ensuring the highest standards in all our manufacturing deliverables. Drawing Transmittals : Submit drawing transmittals to clients, ensuring all documentation reflects the company's commitment to quality and comprehensive engineering solutions. Request for Information (RFI) Submission : Manage and submit RFIs to clients to clarify project details when necessary, reinforcing our commitment to clear communication and client satisfaction. Experience & Skills: Essential : Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor, with a focus on drafting and designing complex components and systems. Highly Advantageous : Experience in steel detailing, particularly using Tekla Structures. Advantageous but Not Essential : Experience in 3D laser scanning, point cloud registration, and reverse engineering from point clouds.
